for mental health trusts
I address compliance with your smokefree policy as well as approaches for quitting or reducing smoking.
Developed training packages include:
- Managing the Smokefree Policy
- Risk Management
- Training Smokefree Leaders
- Level 2 Training for Mental Health Settings
- Bespoke Training
Any training can be tailored to suit you. Half an hour of telephone discussions and three hours work on a pre-developed training package if offered free.
If what you require involves more work than that, we will charge you our consultancy rate for the rest of the time involved.
Managing the Smokefree Policy is an interactive and informative one day training for front-line staff which includes: raising the issue at first point of contact; discussing compliance; care-planning; managing nicotine reduction and NRT; managing risks.
Risk Management is half a day, and looks at how to manage fire risks and risks of verbal or physical assault.
Training Smokefree Leaders is a two day training for people responsible for other staff implementing the policy and enables trainees to enthusiastically deliver the material from ‘managing the smokefree policy’.
Level 2 Training for mental health settings enables trainees to deliver the NHS stop smoking intervention. It covers smoking and health; smoking and mental health; what’s in a cigarette; the psychiatric medications affected by smoking and quitting; pharmacotherapy for quitting; CO monitoring, and an intensive and adaptable version of the six week stop smoking programme, with tools and techniques that are useful with this client group.
